Water cooled drawbar pelletizing is a common method used in the plastics industry to produce pellets using polymer drawbars. In masterbatch production, this method is particularly advantageous because it provides efficient cooling and solidification of the polymer strands while maintaining the integrity of the masterbatch additives.

The following is an application of the GS50 water-cooled strand pelletizing process for masterbatch production:

Extrusion: The process begins with the extrusion of a polymer melt mixed with the color additive. The extruder melts the polymer and mixes it thoroughly with the colorant to achieve the desired color consistency.

Strip Molding: The molten polymer, after proper mixing, is passed through a die with several small holes to form continuous strips of uniform diameter. These strips are usually thin and long.

Water Cooling: The strips are then immersed in a water bath. The water acts as a cooling medium and rapidly reduces the temperature of the bars. This rapid cooling causes the bars to solidify and form granules.

Cutting: Once fully solidified, the bars are passed through a pelletizer where rotating blades cut the bars into uniform lengths. These lengths can vary depending on the desired pellet size.

Dewatering and drying: After pelleting, the pellets are separated from the water and passed through a dewatering system to remove excess water. They are then passed through a drying system to further reduce the moisture content.

Packaging: After drying the granules are ready for packaging. They can be packaged in bags, boxes or bulk containers, depending on the specific requirements of the customer or end application.

The process offers a number of advantages for masterbatch production, including uniform particle size: Water-cooled drawbar pelletizing typically produces uniformly sized and shaped particles, ensuring uniform distribution of the color additives in the masterbatch.
Efficient Cooling: Water cooling provides fast and efficient cooling of the drawbar, which is critical to maintaining the integrity of the color additives and preventing degradation.
High throughput: This method can handle large production volumes, making it suitable for mass production operations.
Versatility: Water-cooled drawbar granulation can be applied to a wide range of polymer types and color formulations, making it a versatile option for producing masterbatches for a variety of applications.
Overall, GS50 water-cooled pelletizing is a reliable and efficient method for producing high quality masterbatches for the plastics industry.
